Backland's onsite activities are designed to let you fully experience the amazing natural world around you. Set on 160 acres of private property and completely surrounded by thousands of acres of national forest, you will enjoy fresh air, dark skies and peace and tranquility like nowhere else.
stargazing
On a clear night Backland may have the most impressive night skies you have ever seen. Deep in the national forest we are far removed from the light pollution of the city. Take a peek through our telescope at craters on the moon or even Saturn's rings.

Enjoy a fun game of frisbee golf on our 9 hole course. Take in the scenery as the course winds through forest and meadow on our 160 acres.

Relax on a lounge chair while the kids build sand castles. Hop on a kayak for a paddle around the island or try your hand at fishing.

fire pit with smores
Join us around the fire in the evenings and enjoy complimentary s'mores.
Propane fire pits may be used when Forest Service fire restrictions are in effect.
bird watching
Check out a pair of binoculars and see if you can catch a glimpse of some of the many bird species that frequent our land. Regulars include bald eagles, ospreys, blue heron, turkeys, geese, ducks and many many more.
